Why Vijay’s Victory is a Blow to Seeman’s Extremist Ideology” – Arun Siddharth Analyzes the Tamil Nadu Election Impact on Sri Lanka
Legislative assembly elections in Tamil Nadu state of India have now ended. According to the latest reports, actor Vije, who won the election and leads the political party “Tamilaga Vetri Kasagam”, is set to swear in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu this evening.
Many Sinhalese friends were asking me ‘How does Vijaya’s victory affect Sri Lanka? ‘ Just about to go. ‘Is it useful or harmful to us? They’re alerting about the ‘go’.
Before discussing Vijaya’s victory, it is important to talk about the defeat of “Nam Tamilar Kachchi” (“We are Tamil Party”) and its captain ‘Seeman’. I believe it will be important especially for Sinhalese people to understand this.
This politician named Seaman is not as famous as among the Tamil people.
Tamil racist hatred, anti-Sinhalese racism, violence and the false ordeal stories he presented on political propaganda platforms were completely built on, baseless and false delights.
Here’s what Prabhakaran told over and over on stage to explain why he took the weapon into his hand:
“A young Prabhakaran, who was a student, sees an aunt carrying a child who was lamenting in the backburns due to drowning in boiling stars.”
He looks around. Sinhalese men took to the streets, raped Tamil women naked, and then wrote the Sinhalese letter ‘Sri’ with sticks laughing on their breasts.
They cut the women’s breasts and hanged them on the cow ropes.
They cut meat from tamil thighs, put it on tables, and sold it saying ‘tamil thighs have meat’.
Similarly, Sinhalese had state power but Tamilians consistently score the highest scores in exams. Wondering how to stop this, they changed the method so that Tamilians need 85% points to pass, and Sinhalese students could only pass by scoring 35%. However, the Tamilians have excelled in their studies. When they asked why, someone said, ‘It is because of the Jaffna library, which is the treasure of knowledge. ‘So, they burnt down the Jaffna library.
Prabhakaran fought with weapons in his hands after seeing all this.
‘If Seeman was there in the place of Prabhakaran, no Sinhalese would have been alive. ’
‘You guys cut my sisters breasts off right? So I cut y’all sisters breasts the same way! You guys raped and killed my sister in the middle of the road right? So for all of us, I’m raping a hundred of y’all sisters the same way. ’”
This is the great lie named Seeman named Vijay’s political opponent repeatedly from political platforms and socializing.
Exactly one year after the Sri Lankan government defeated LTTE on May 18, 2010, he started his party “Naam Tamilar Kachchi” with financial support from LTTE pro-LTE diaspora networks living abroad.
In 2016, exactly six years after the party was formed, he contested independently against 234 election divisions in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections and ranked ninth with 458,104 votes. Even though he didn’t win a single seat, his party scored 1.07% of the total votes published in Tamil Nadu.
Five years later, in the 2021 council elections, the party scored 3,042,253 votes and 6.58% of the voting percentage. Although it failed to win any seat again, the party went fast and became the third largest party in several electoral divisions from ninth place.
In the 2024 Indian parliamentary election, the party scored 3,560,485 votes and 8.22% of the votes. It was established as the third largest political force in Tamil Nadu after traditional liquid parties DMK and ADMK. Since it exceeded the 8% required limit under the Indian Election Law, the Indian Election Commission officially accepted it as a state party and gave it a permanent election symbol.
Seeman, Prabhakaran repeatedly declared as his leader, emphasizing that a separate state called “Tamil Elam” is the solution for the Sri Lankan Tamil people. He exhibited massive photos of Prabhakaran and other LTTE members on political platforms. He used the LTTE flag as his party flag The only difference there was that the bullets and rifles around the tiger logo were not in Seaman’s logo. He also uses the map of LTTE identified as “Tamil Ilam” by party members beds – dresses. Seaman often shows up on stage wearing a t-shirt with a picture of Prabhakar and his party supporters do the same.
To support this LTTE-related political movement and help the party seize the political power in Tamil Nadu, LTTE’s international connections were given to him on a scale of financial aid even imagining.
‘Vijay’ entered Tamil Nadu politics in 2024 in this very profitable political atmosphere.
Vijay’s political comeback pushed Seeman’s party to the fourth place which had a chance to emerge as a leading force in 2026 elections.
In the 2026 election, the party received 1,972,537 votes and only 4% of the percentage of votes, ranked fourth. Couldn’t win even one seat.
Most of the votes that Wijay got in 2026 elections came from ‘Gen Z’ voters who were attracted to Kachchi previously.
Therefore, what is more important to us than Vijaya’s victory is the defeat of Seeman caused by Vijaya’s emergence.
Many former LTTE members who fled Sri Lanka during the war, together with their international networks, are taking strategic measures aimed to start an armed struggle again in Sri Lanka by 2050, reports from information circulating between parts of Europe’s Tamil Diaspora.
If closely observed the activities of former LTTE internationally related networks, it is clear that they are systematically working to build visionism for a future armed struggle aimed at establishing a separate Tamil Ilam state by 2050.
So, nowadays, the threat and dangerous character we have is Seaman, not Vijay. To defeat Seaman and his ideology, we can support Wijay.
It is also beneficial from our perspective that the Congress party has supported Wijay in setting up a government. Although the Sri Lankan state may have forgiven LTTE for the murder of Rajiv Gandhi, the Congress party will never. It won’t even allow LTTE to reappear.
As long as Vijay’s party exists as part of the ruling coalition, the groups connected to LTTE will not be able to pull Vijay to their side. Even when Congress was not involved, Vijaya was careful to avoid mentioning Prabhakaran or LTTE in his election campaigns.
I believe that his views on Kachchativ are just standard political vocabulary stories used by Indian politicians during elections. So, Wije is not a politician who is currently a threat to Sri Lanka.
So, at this moment we can support Wijay to beat Seaman.
